What is your taste in coffee? Black? A giant cup first thing in the morning? Lots and lots of milk and sugar (although this basically renders the coffee useless, and you might as well just concede you don’t LIKE the taste of coffee). What do you imagine with the morning’s struggle out of bed?

Placing one foot on the floor, reluctantly not wanting to face the day ahead, only to realize that there is a kitchen, and within this kitchen is a device that produces the most delicious water-substitute ever. You MUST make it there. And once you do, the day begins. Good!

But what if instead you get up, dress, leave the house, and proceed to a cafe? Then what? What do you choose? What do you want to drink this morning? This very well could be the most important decision you make all day. Not to take the interstate or local roads to get to work. Not to perhaps just not go in at all, but what to decide on for a coffee! Truly. Important. Choices.

Really, what do you feel like? A giant cup of black coffee? The type of vessel you could float a dachshund in? A dainty little demitasse of strooong espresso? Make it a double! A…ahem… Venti-sized disposable cup full of steamed milk and flavored syrups with enough caloric content to power a small village for an hour? If that is what you desire then yes, go for that. God bless your cardiologist.

These are the important things to decide on. The choices you make, make you. You are in control of them. What else are you in control of?!? That is why it is so imperative to get the morning’s beverage decision right. If you go through the rest of your day having had nothing else go according to plan, at least you had a coffee. And it was what you spent your hard-earned cashola on, or what you decided to make within your own kitchen, with your own equipment.

Choice. Decision. Direction. Action. These are all things throughout the day, every day, we must encounter. It all starts when that foot first hits the floor. It is all up to you. What will you do with your day?
