You ever go to a cafe and see something on one of their shelves of stuff for sale and feel a sense of wonder? Yeah, me too. I’ve had that feeling many times. There’s always something there that you’ve never seen before or have only seen online and all of a sudden out comes this audible: “Ooooo there’s one in real life!” That happened with me and the Aeropress.
Ahhhhhhhhh…the Aeropress. Such a lovely device. If you have one you know what I’m talking about. And if you do have one then I would strongly recommend the Able Disc. This is a metal plate that replaces all those little filter papers that you have to use, and toss. Whatta hassle. The Able Disc is completely reusable (made of metal), washes up quickly, and completely changes the flavor profile of your Aeropress. The thing is, tasty coffee oils get trapped by the filter paper. Depressing! This disc will change your life and really should come with the Aeropress instead of the paper filters.
But where was I? Oh yes, different coffee apparatus. People love their coffee makers. Including this guy (points at self). I have gotten my share of Kickstarter coffee devices, some worthless, a couple absolutely outstanding. Like the Handpresso, which I use every day. No, really.
This whole subject comes up because yet again there is a new, original design on Kickstarter. It has already made its goal to be produced after only a matter of days. Impressive! It’s a stovetop coffee maker, kind of like a Moka pot but with a more modern design. Lookit that thing! And the crazy aspect (and perhaps the selling point for me) is by changing up the grind of coffee you put into this thing, it produces a commensurate different coffee. My Moka pot can’t do that! Tempting to get one to satiate curiosity, and because I loooooove coffee-related things.
